About the Firm

Accessible Legislative Solutions

Since 2023, Granite Dome Solutions (GDS) has been empowering clients to keep the Texas Legislature in their corner. Although the firm is young, it is backed by a decade of experience, knowledge, relationships, and trust built and maintained under the Texas Capitol building's iconic granite dome.

Because GDS is a growing, boutique firm, it can offer more time and individualized attention to clients, at more accessible rates, all while ensuring top notch, effective representation.

By design, it is difficult to harness the legislative process to correct course on state law. That's why you've come to us.

Call Granite Dome Solutions today for a consultation on how we might find legislative solutions for you.

Our Process

I

Preliminary Consultation

Each client brings a unique set of issues with its own history and political backdrop. These must be understood and taken into account to achieve successful outcomes.

No one knows "how we got here" better than you. At this stage, we like to do more listening than talking

We will gather information from you through discussion and review of any relevant documentation. This info will guide our advice and strategy.

Time is the most valuable commodity in the legislative process. Don't delay, reach out for a consultation today.

III

Execution

Once our plan is in place, we will execute that plan with diligence, while allowing for enough flexibility to adapt to ever-changing circumstances and information that the legislative process is notorious for.

II

Strategic Planning

Once you retain GDS and we understand the history and political landscape underlying the issue(s) you face, we will formulate a unique plan for our strategy of attack (or defense).

No cookie-cutter blueprints here, our plan will be unique and tailored to your specific needs and our assessment of the legislative landscape.

Our tools include: legal analysis and writing; procedural maneuvering; coalition building; and public relations & media messaging.

IV

Reflection & Projection

The legislative process is deliberately designed to be difficult – only about 17% of bills become law – so whether we win, lose, or draw, there will be lessons to learn moving forward. It will be of immense value to take time to reflect on those lessons in order to secure victories or avoid further in the future.

Founder & Chief Lobbyist

Brian Thornton

For nearly a decade before founding Granite Dome Solutions, Brian served as a trusted senior policy advisor to leading members of both the Texas House and Senate, as well as an Austin City Council Member. During time, Brian gained the experience, knowledge, relationships, and trust that enable effective representation under the iconic granite dome of the Texas Capitol building.

Brian founded GDS in the lead-up to the 88th Texas legislative session in order to assist a non-profit coalition of Austin business-owners and citizens who sought his help in taking legislative action against a local government's egregious tax and spending policy. With his first successful session under his belt, Brian seeks to take GDS to new heights and  empowering his growing list of clients.

Brian's Texas roots go as far back as family records are reliable – at least five generations. With that Texas spirit of independence so deeply ingrained, it's easy to see why, from a very early age, he understood and took interest in the profound impact governmental policies have on the  everyday lives of citizens and businesses.

Brian followed that passion, graduating from Texas Tech University with both his Juris Doctorate and B.A in Political Science and History. Keeping both academics and civic engagement in mind, he was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Honors Society, founded a liberty-minded campus political organization, and served as a Precinct Chairman for the Lubbock County Republican Party, where he formed lasting relationships with two sitting Texas House Members.
